Southwest Chess Club versus Waukesha on August 29
at ProHealth Care Park, 2950 South Sunny Slope Road, New Berlin.
First Round game starts at 10:00 a.m.
We have about 10 players signed up so far from our Club, but Jim Coons said we need more since Waukesha already has about 15 or so.
See Jim Coons this Thursday to sign up.
Each person will play two games (G/60) against an opponent, one with the white pieces and one with the black pieces. We will be providing drinks and snacks also. Hope to have many sign up.
ReplyDeleteWill this be a rated event? And how will pairings be made?
ReplyDeleteWe will try to pair players with similar ratings as much as possible. Probably just line up players by their ratings for each Club, top to bottom, and then start pairing them from the top going down. The last time we did this match, if both players wanted their games to be rated, we rated them. I am not sure if that is what we will do this time, but it sounds good.
ReplyDeleteHow much does it cost to join??
ReplyDeleteWho does Waukesha have so far?
ReplyDeleteHey JB,
ReplyDeleteYou Going?
Depends if I can get off work (I work night shift). Used to play in War of the Roses (same format) and it was always fun having white & black against same opponent on same day.
ReplyDeleteMembership at the Southwest Chess Club is $10.00 per year. We meet on Thursday nights. See our website for complete details.
ReplyDeleteThe first round is at 10:00 a.m., so both rounds should be over by 3:00 p.m. at the latest, given two hours per game and a small rest in between.
Hope to see a good showing from SWCC!
ReplyDeleteSince this will be outside at a park, we want to ensure good weather (even though we are under canopy). So our Information Officer, a/k/a Weatherman Allen, will give us updates on the projected weather as our match date approaches.
ReplyDeleteIs that Ward Allen? How's Albert the Alley-Cat? (for those of us near or over 50)
ReplyDeleteTommy Schneider would like to play.
ReplyDeleteLooks like the SWCC has about 18 players right now.
ReplyDeleteSaturday: A 20 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 72.
ReplyDeleteWhen will "summer" arrive ?!?!
Looks like the temperatures will be in the high 60s on Saturday, but it is looking like no rain. Dress appropriately for cooler weather. Should be a great day for some outdoor chess.
ReplyDeleteSorry about the cool weather! How did the games go?
