  3. Jim: You need to talk to Jim, as he is sending me the advanced entries to post.

  4. Jim: I only received and posted the regular tournament advanced entries. I have not posted the Rated Beginners Section (U1200), so if you are playing in that section, that might be why you are not listed here.

  5. Yes, I am in the U1200 section.

  8. Well attended and managed event again! Special thanks to Charles.Carerros and walking boss Jim Nickell. Congratulations to 2015 tournament co-champions Betaneli, Harder and Rajendra.

  9. if by "well managed" you mean starting the first round 45 minutes late, then you are correct

  10. Minor inconvenience for something this large is to be expected. You may not be aware, but there were probably 40 walk on entries that delayed the round and it's much to the TDs credit that the tournament continues to be one of the best attended of WCA tour events. No enough credit is given these folks for their hard work and dedication to Wisconsin Chess. Where else can you have a full day of entertainment for $10?

  11. Registration was scheduled to end at 9:30. The idea is to give all people who appear late a 1/2 bye. That's what USCF rulebook clearly states.

Delaying the round by this long may well be a minor inconvenience for people who don't spend more than 10 minutes on their games. For others, this meant essentially no lunch break: good luck driving somewhere and eating in mere 20-25 minutes. This circus continued for all rounds.

Credit goes to the players who like to play chess and don't mind playing for old chess books as prizes. And don't mind that tournament directors can't be bothered to control the noise level (and seem to go out of their way to create noise themselves). This is EASILY the worst run tournament on WCA tour. If you ever played in Green Bay Open, for example, you would know what I mean.

  12. What can I say anonymous? Giving out 20 byes in round one may make sense to you, but as mentioned everyone comes to play. My game went the distance and there was still time to walk to a restaurant and eat before the next round. With a tight schedule you need to plan better it seems.

  13. Look at the last "advance entries": there are almost 60 names there and only the Open entries are listed. So, let's not exaggerate: the walk in was a LOT LESS than 40 people and surely NOT everyone appeared at 9:30am. I don't know what you mean by "distance," but if you mean "2 hours" than you had to eat a bag of potato chips for lunch.

Incidentally, I am not saying the tournament was horrible. Just well below your average WCA tour event in terms of organization. I am sure most people had fun.

  14. Results recorded Open=64 and RBO=35 minus your "almost 60 advanced entries" (actually 51 on 03/27 post above in the Open, so there's no count for the RBO) looks like around 40 walk on to me.

  15. Sure. And did everyone show up at 9:30am? Even if they did, the right way would have been to close registration as advertised and then pair all late shows against each other.
