  1. There is also an Illinois state championship at the same time as this event and they have blitz on sat. night.

  2. So IL players can play in IL and WI players can play in WI.

  3. We have the "Illinois problem" every year. However, in order to preserve our long time control and 6-round format, we are restricted to holiday weekends, and every one of those has a big Illinois tournament. The only way to avoid competition with Illinois is to move our tournament to a non-holiday weekend, but that means a significantly shorter time control and/or fewer than 6 rounds. If you are in favor of doing that, let a WCA board member know -- most of us will be at the tournament.

  4. Tournament players should play in their home state and show support for the state tournament from which they live and reside. This is the state tournament, so support your state!

  5. If you look at the median ratings of both events, WI tournament is always stronger.
