US Amateur Team North (USATN), Chicago - Feb. 18-20, 2011
If you want to play chess in this National Tournament but do not have a team, they will find you a team. You can just register and the organizers will assign you to a team prior to the start of the tournament. Hope to see a lot of Wisconsin chess players down in Northbrook, Illinois for the team tournament.
Thanks Chris. Round 1, Nolan drew on Board 1 vs NM Jim Dean (a nice defense with opposite-colored Bishops), while I pulled out a nice defense in time trouble vs NM Langreck, to draw. Jim Coons and Robin Grochowski lost on Bds 3 & 4.
Jeff Pokorski from our club is here, as well as others (Shiva Suri, the Gorectkes, etc). Looks like about ~100 players (once the 2-day and 3-day finally merge tomorrow afternoon). -Allen

ReplyDeleteIf they really want to call this north they should play in like Fargo.
ReplyDeleteGood luck to all the club members playing in this event!

If I didn't work Saturday morning I would have headed down there as well.
