Wow, are the guys allowed to wear skirts so they can claim some of those great female prizes. Looks like someone just wants to give away a lot of money to the girls. How about another sponsor for the boys, like perhaps godchess.

Wear a skirt, darling anonymous, and maybe you'll win a prize. Otherwise, suck it up and play chess. Big boys don't whine, BTW.

Hey, Skirt Anonymous, I may be playing - my first tournament ever - and I'm bringing a couple of friends. I won't be wearing a skirt but I will be wearing a bra. I look like someone's grandma - well, sort of. I've got the skin of a 20 year old. Maybe we'll be paired against each other in the U-1600. I'll be coming in with zero rating. Let me know who you are... Bwwwwwwaaaaaahhhhhhh....

I would like to play, but need a ride to Milwaukee Saturday morning and back to Madison Saturday evening? Does anyone know anyone who can spot me from Madison?

Many years ago, I roamed the land
I'll always lend the weak a helping hand
I am a soldier, know me by my arms
I trust the Lord to keep me from all harm

A title of respect precedes my name
I'd rather die than have to suffer shame
In stories and a game I live today
Do you know who I am? Guess away!

Anonymous said...

Haha well I don't know if that is aimed at me or not, but judging by the title of respect, you must be an NM, FM, IM, GM, M.D, J.D, PH.D., or something along those lines.

However, we are clearly different. Whereas you are old and roamed the land many years ago, I am young, have no titles, no dignity, and unlike you I do not trust the Lord to keep me out of harm's way.

Despite this though, I am hardly "weak", I can make it to HC just fine by myself if I choose to spend rental car fees.

What in the world are you guys talking about???

Robin said...

I believe the answer is a knight. I think it was just an attempt at some chess humor and not directed toward anyone in particular.

where is nicole from racine? i do not see her name on the lists.

Anonymous said...

She moved to a suburb near Dallas.

-Matt Waller

Robin said...

It was probably the result of Cubs results this past season -- she just could not take it anymore! Hopefully she may fly in Friday night from Dallas so she can enter the tournament on Saturday.

Wish everyone the best. Wish i could be there again.

Great turnout, 78 players ties our 2nd-best turnout ever!

Once again a fine tournament that was superbly directed. Just a few minor things out of your control, otherwise the HCC XII was close to perfection. Thanks again to Allen, Robin and Tom for another success!

Wonderful-logging into my email at 5AM and discover the results of HCC XII in the mailbox. That is what is called 'being on top of it'.

Congrats to Nolan on his 3.5/4 tie for first, knocking out top two seeds and gaining 50+ ratings points! By all rights he won the tournament, whereas I merely participated!

Congrats to Nolan and "Bravo" to Alex! Now that's good sportsmanship!

I see Sheldon is now listed on the USCF website as the top ranked player in the United States 65 and over.

Once again, the SWCC chess club (and Allen, Robin and Tom specifically) pulled off another fine tournament. The new site is much better than the Four Points, btw. Also nice to see Jan in her first tournament, supporting female participation. I'm already marking my calendar for April 16, 2011.

Hi Everyone,

Shira, Crispin and I had a great time at our first Hales Corners Challenge. Crispin is sorry now that he didn't play, but he got lots of work done in the skittles room while he waited for us :) I have many photos from the tournament posted at the Goddesschess blog (www.goddesschess.blogspot.com) and will add a few more this evening. I apologize for not being able to positively identify everyone in the photos. Shira would like to return in April to play in HCCC XIII but we won't know her work schedule until much closer to April, 2011. If she is able to visit me here she will, and if she comes I told her I would bite the bullet once again and play too. But I hope to do better if I play in another HCCC. I'm even going to - gasp - do some studying, exercises, really, starting out very simply, like white to move and checkmate in 1, LOL! I've actually had some success at that - I started during lunch hour today. I read that if I study one hour a day I will be able to improve my rating to 1000, so watch out, world! Now that I can manage to get through a game and actually write down the moves of both players at the same time, the sky is the limit, if only I can get my brain to work.
