Could you post Rd 2 Pairings?

Anonymous said...

Some people have more points than what is given... for example Jester.

Southwest Chess Club said...

I think those scores count the Round 4 BYES already entered into the software. I'll fix soon. -Allen

Chris said...

Wow, it looks like I may be paired against Coons. At this rate he and I will soon have played more games than Kasparov and Karpov!

Tom said...

Another Caro-Coons coming up maybe ?

Chris said...

Maybe he should play all of Karpov's openings and I'll play Kasparov's. I can see Jim taking the white side of a Najdorf...

Anonymous said...

Pairings out yet??

Anonymous said...

Sure: Kate and William, Elizabeth and Phillip, Charles and Camilla, etc.

Anonymous said...

Bonnie and Clyde, Mickey and Minnie, Adam and Eve.

Chris said...

That's it, I'm playing 1. b4 against Coons. It might be the only thing we haven't played at this point!

Anonymous said...

I think 1.b4 would be an interesting move to spring on Mr. Coons, however, you have now tipped him off and he can prepare for it!

Karpov

Chris said...

Hey Karpov,

Can I borrow that psychic you used against Korchnoi?

Thanks buddy!

Benzo38 said...

Karpov and Kasparov drew again.

My game was a real fight till the last blunder.

Chris said...

I was fortunate to hold that draw against Coons. He was up a pawn most of the game and I was hanging on by a thread.

Tom said...

Chris and Ben, Good games by both of you.

Anonymous said...

Could you please post standings after Round 4?

Anonymous said...

Upset City!!

Benzo38 said...

Tell me if I'm wrong but I should be Black against Allen Becker? I forgot what Becker's plays as white. I hope its not e4 or f4.

Chris said...

Thanks Tom!

Anonymous said...

Hey Ben... Why would you write what you're afraid of on here???

Chris said...

Probably to try to keep Allen from playing 1. d4!

Anonymous said...

I'm guessing if Ben is clever... he is luring Allen!

Southwest Chess Club said...

Now I'm inspired to play 1.d4 vs Ben! However, that pairing is not very likely in Round 5, due to Waller dropping out. Lots of upsets in Round 4, including Andrew Grochowski defeating Allen Becker. Stay tuned for tentative pairings by Monday.

Sneak preview of top 5 boards:
1. ___ Zhou, Jerry Zhexua (3.5,1898) ___ Williams, William (4.0,2200)

2. ___ Mhaskar, Rohan (3.0,1842) ___ Gorectke, Andrew M (3.5,1756)

3. ___ Grochowski, Andrew (3.0,1703) ___ Suri, Shiva (3.0,1670)

4. ___ Schenkel, Daniel E (3.0,1689) ___ Hayes, Raymond C (2.5,2100)

5. ___ Corcoran, Benjamin (2.5,1516) ___ Hildeman, Jonathan (2.5,1715

This tournament is a war zone littered with the bodies of the suffering!!

Benzo38 said...

Awonder beat IM Daniel Fernandez in the US Open! I was hoping not to play white this round but I might have to.

Chris said...

Fernandez had an interesting tournament. He draws Nakamura and then loses to Awonder.

So if this was a discussion about college football there would be a number of people who would be saying that we can now definitively prove that Awonder is at least as strong as Nakamura.

Chris said...

And it looks like I may well be playing Robin this round. Seems like that's been happening a lot lately as well...

Anonymous said...

And Robin is difficult to beat!

Nakamura

So if either Zhou or Gorectke win they are the new club champ. But if they draw, and then Williams, Grochowski or Schenkel all win, there are a lot of players tied. I would think that the normal tie break procedures then get applied as the rule book states. Any body know??

Chris said...

So it looks like I finally get to play Pokorski in a slow game. Nice.
