PLAYING SITE:   Playing site is the Courtyard by Marriott Madison West, 2266 Deming Way, Middleton, WI  53562.  Hotel rates are $89.  Rooms may be reserved by calling 608-203-0100.  Reserve early.  Room block held only until November 2 with price subject to availability after that and most likely will be higher.

REGISTRATION:  In addition to online registration, players may register onsite from 9:00-9:30 AM on Saturday, December 3.  Please bring your chess clock.  Phone inquiries may be directed to Mike Nietman at (608) 467-8510 or e-mail mike.nietman@charter.net.  

SCHEDULE:  The Wisconsin Memorial is a five-round Swiss-System event.  Rounds are at 10:00 AM, 2:30 PM and 7:00 PM on Saturday.  Sunday’s rounds are at 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM.  The time control is Game in 90 minutes plus a 30 second increment per move.  One ½-point bye is available for any round if requested in advance.

ENTRY FEES:  If received by November 29, the entry fee is $35.  All entries paid later are $10 more.  If you pre-register but then cannot play, your entry will be refunded to you, less fees paid by the organizer for online registration, only if you notify the tournament director by 9:30 AM on December 3.

PRIZES:  The following $900 prize fund is based on 60 players and four per class:

Site:  Gruenhagen Conference Center, UW-Oshkosh, Corner of High and Osceola St. Oshkosh WI 54901.

Lodging Room Rate: $40 (dorm room) 920-424-1106.

Parking:  Overnight parking must be permitted.  Parking is $5 for overnight parking.  Non printed permits need to be purchased ahead of time at Parking Services (aimsparking.com).  Select ‘Purchase a Permit’ then ‘Weekend Visitor Permit’.

Open to Age 18 and over.

Entry Fee: $35 by 11/1; $45 at site.

Prizes:  Guaranteed: $300-175. A-$100; B-$90; C-$80; D-$70; E/Unr-$60.

Onsite Registration: 11/5 8:45-9:30 A.M.

Held in conjunction with the WI Junior Open but in a separate room.

SCHOLASTIC SECTION: This event is very beginner-friendly. It is not required to be a US Chess member.  Experienced scholastic tournament players are strongly encouraged to enter rated sections.
