Since our Hales Corners SWCC club is closed on November 7 (and October 31) due to the elections, Thor Templin has offered his Milwaukee German Immersion School for us to play casual (non-rated) play (there may be blitz or rapid as well):

November 7 (Thursday), 7:00 pm - ~10:00 pm.

Milwaukee German Immersion School is at the corner of 82nd and Vienna (about 3 blocks south of Capitol Drive). So from the 43 or 41, take the Capitol exit to 82nd St. There is street parking as well as a lot located on 81st and Vienna. People should enter at the main doors just off of 82nd and Vienna.

 ELIGIBILITY          The 2024 Wisconsin Rapid and Blitz State Championships are open to all players.  All entrants must be members of the US Chess Federation.  US Chess membership may be purchased at the site.  Wisconsin Chess Association membership is included in the entry.  Our website address is www.wischess.org.

PLAYING SITE         Playing site is the Courtyard by Marriott Madison West, 2266 Deming Way, Middleton, WI  53562.  Hotel rates are $105.  Rooms may be reserved by calling 608-203-0100. 

REGISTRATION      Players may register by mail using the form below.  Online registration is available at 2024 Wisconsin Rapid State Championship (kingregistration.com) and 2024 Wisconsin Blitz State Championship (kingregistration.com).  Registration will be accepted at the site from 9:00-9:30 AM on Saturday, April 6.  Please bring your chess clock.  Phone inquiries may be directed to Mike Nietman at (608) 467-8510 before April 6 or e-mail mike.nietman@charter.net.  

SCHEDULE-RAPID The Wisconsin Rapid Championship is a four-round Swiss-System event.  Rounds are at 10 AM, 11:15 AM, 1 PM and 2:15 PM.  The time control is Game in 25 minutes plus a 3 second increment per move.  One ½-point bye is available for any round if requested in advance.  Accelerated pairings may be used.  The event will be quick rated but use regular ratings for pairings and prizes

 SCHEDULE-BLITZ                The Wisconsin Blitz Championship is a five-round Double Swiss-System event.  You play two games against each opponent.  Rounds begin at 4 PM with subsequent rounds ASAP.  The time control is Game in 3 minutes plus a 2 second increment per move.  A one-point bye is available for any round if requested in advance.  The event will be blitz rated but use regular ratings for pairings and prizes.

 ENTRY FEES              If received by April 2, the entry fee is $25 for the Rapid and $15 for the Blitz.  All entries paid later are $5 more for each event.  If you pre-register but then cannot play, your entry will be refunded to you only if you notify the tournament director by 9:30 AM on April 6.  Credit card and online registration fees incurred by WCA will not be returned.

 PRIZES                             The following $650 prize fund for each event is based on 60 players in the Rapid and 40 players in the blitz:
