Casual Chess, food and socializing. No entry fee !!

It is time for Southwest Chess Club's annual year end party. Drop by between 6 and 10 pm for food, snacks and non-alcoholic beverages---all provided by Southwest Chess Club. Bring a dessert or dish to pass if you want, but it's not required. Plenty of casual chess. All ages welcome. We meet at the Hales Corners Village Hall in the lower level community room. The address is 5635 S. New Berlin Road in Hales Corners. Parking is next to the building.

The chess club will not meet on Thursday night, December 27. After December 20, the club will again be open on Thursday January 3, 2013, which will also be the first night of a new tournament (see below).

Summer Actionade Cooler VI - August 23

This Thursday, August 23 Southwest Chess Club is holding a one night, three round tournament. There will be two sections, one Quick Rated only and the other Dual Rated (Quick and Regular Ratings affected). The event will take place at our usual meeting place, in the downstairs community room at the Hales Corners Village Hall. Registration is from 6:20 PM to 6:50 PM. Please arrive early to register, so that the first round can start at 7.  All three rounds will be played this Thursday.  Details below.

SWCC SIMUL KICKoff

 2011 Club Champion and USCF Expert Jerry Zhou will give a Lecture this Thursday, July 5 on the topic:  What to do with Doubled Pawns.  The Lecture will start at 6:15 and run approximately 45 minutes.  Immediately following the Lecture, Jerry will conduct a Simultaneous Exhibition.  There is no charge to attend the Lecture or play in the Simul.
 
In what has become a Southwest Chess Club tradition, our defending club champion gives a Lecture and Simul the week before we start the next Joe Crothers Memorial Southwest Chess Club Championship. Jerry achieved a USCF Expert rating for his performance in last year's club championship and has maintained that rating since then.
