Should be a nice event. The hotel is nice and comfortable, and is near a lot of eating establishments. The hotel also servces a free breakfast if you are saying there, and also has a restaurant.
Looks like I am going to be on the “cutting edge” of the olde Swiss rating break for the first round. I definitely would rather be on the upper end of the lower group than the lower end of the upper group, or in other words I would rather play someone who is rated 2000 than someone who is rated 200.
Well, if Robin is right in the middle... then it's a very strong event for WI!
Robin, I am in Hungary now: if you would like updates on your blog, let me know please.
Thanks,
Alex
Alex: Yes, please. The updates would be much appreciated. Thanks.
Looks like 29 pre-entries so far, which is good. Hopefully with door sign ups, the tournament will have perhaps 50 players.
Why are some bolded?
The boldest players are bolded I imagine.
Three games, three draws. Alas, rounds 2 and 3 were slips in great positions. All games are in pgn format in my ICC library (diablomaster), but he is the text for those interested.
Will keep you updated!
Alex

Nice job Alex
updates from madison?
It's rated. Erik won and became 2315.
Congratulations to Erik for winning the tournament.
Both myself and Andrew withdrew after round 4 because Andrew was not feeling well.
It was nice seeing Jeff Cooper. He says he is going to try to play more chess in 2010.
Congratulations to John Veech for winning the 2009 Tour, even though he did not play in this tournament.
Robin: Congrats to you for beating two "A" players!
JB: Thanks. Robin
Hopefully Robin himself is soon to be in Class A !!
