Joe Crothers Passes Away

It is with great sadness that I must inform you that Joe Crothers, President of the Southwest Chess Club, has passed away. Joe collapsed Sunday evening while playing chess at the Southwest Chess Club pavilion at Polish Fest and died later at the hospital. He was a wise and valued leader of our club and will be greatly missed. Arrangements are still pending, but likely to appear in tomorow's Journal Sentinel. Tom Fogec/Southwest Chess Club

Although I did not know Joe well, it was obvious he was outgoing and always congenial. Upon our first meeting he was quick to introduce himself and offer a friendly game and some candy.

Condolences to the Crothers family and the club.
