2019 WI Quick and Blitz Chess Championships 3/02/19

2019 WISCONSIN QUICK CHESS AND BLITZ STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS 

Saturday, March 2 

PLAYING SITE: Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel Madison (3841 East Washington Ave, Madison WI 53704; 608-819-6298) 

QUICK CHESS: four rounds with time control of G/25 plus 3 second increment per move. This event is Quick Rated, but regular ratings will be used for pairings and prizes. Accelerated pairings may be used. Late registration: 9:00-9:30am. Rounds: 10:00am, 11:15am, 12:45pm, 2:00pm 

BLITZ: ten games (5 double rounds) with time control of G/3 plus 2 second increment per move. This event is Blitz Rated, but regular ratings will be used for pairings and prizes. Late registration: 3:00-3:15pm. Rounds: 3:30pm and then ASAP 

PRIZES: $600 (b/30) for each event: $200-$100 and $300 in class prizes with 5-8 players per class

ELIGIBILITY: K-12 students are eligible. This is a very beginner-friendly event, so new players are encouraged to participate. Experienced tournament players may want to choose the Open section (see separate flyer).

PRIZES: 20 individual trophies based on age and 5 team trophies. Every participant receives chocolate. 

SCHEDULE: everyone plays four games, there is no elimination (you can skip some games if needed). Late registration is 9:00-9:30am. Round times: 10:00am, 11:15am, 12:45pm, 2:00pm. Award ceremony/chocolate party begins shortly after the last round.
