David Dathe gives some excellent lectures. It would definitely be worth it to come on out early (6:00 p.m.) to catch his chess lecture!

Anonymous said...

Winners on the top 6 boards will be Waller, Veech, Allen Becker, Williams, John Becker and Hayes.

Anonymous said...

six wins on the top boards with no draws. I bet a donut to your dollar that will never come about. draws are the nature of chess. I predict at least two draws.

Anonymous said...

There were a lot of draws and even upsets in the first two rounds. This round will have real fights on the top 6 boards and a clear winner on each.

0-1 Grochowski-Becker Guaranteed.

Too bad about the weather, but lots of folks were calling, either saying they couldn't come (bad roads, heavy rain), or concerned about active Tornado Warnings. Y'all stay dry, and we'll resume next week.

Tom Fogec’s lecture on the rules of chess and what one should know is an essential lecture for chess players, especially the younger players in the game today. There are many players who do not even know the proper way to offer a draw! Also, not knowing the rules could lose you a chess game!! I would encourage a large turnout for this lecture, especially by the younger players in the area. Come on down to the Club at 6:00 p.m. this Thursday and get educated on the rules of chess!

Words is out that the "0-1 Grochowski-Becker Guaranteed." prediction is looking shaky, might want to reconsider those bets!

My prediction for the match...................pain ("Mr. T 1977)

If you slap your knight in anger, you'll only hurt your own hand.

Prediction: Waller over Veech and Becker over Williams

Anonymous said...

Lots of time left in the last three rounds for some dark horse to ride away with the tournament.

Results from the the top Boards last night:

Waller v Veech 1/2 - 1/2
Becker v Williams 1 - 0
Mhaskar v Hendrickson 0 -1
Pokorski v Cardenas 0-1

Top boards for Round 5 would seem to be (due to color issues):

Veech v. Becker
Hendrickson v Waller

Robin said...

So after four rounds, Allen Becker is leading the charge for another SWCC Championship trophy!

Could someone post rd5 pairings?

Good lecture coming on Thursday! Come on, Chess Players -- the Club is offering great lectures and we have very few players taking advantage of them. I encourage players to come on out at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday to enjoy the lectures.

Nolan Hendrickson is running this week's lecture. It should be really good. Nolan has a lot of good ideas. If you want to improve your level of play, do not miss this lecture !!
