This is the first tour event of the year. Also, for a Madison tournament, the time controls are shortened since the Red Gym has open and closing hours that must be observed.
The victorious strategist only seeks battle after the victory has been won, whereas he who is destined to defeat first fights and afterwards looks for victory.

Top entries so far include Smail (2119) and Jin (2007). Entries from the club include myself, Andrew, Mr. Fogec and Mr. Coons. Good weekend to come up to Madison and play some chess.
I will be there, although I am having to take a HPB in the first round.
I'm may be going. Anyone have any ideas on where to park?
Pardon my English, still groggy this morning.
Attention Madison protestors...
Coming Soon: the hood of my car!
Seriously, you don't want to walk in front of me when I'm trying to remember the lines I play in the Kings Indian!
Updates anyone?
I was done before anyone else in round three last night, but when I left it was:
Jim 2-0
Robin 1.5-.5
Andrew 1.5-.5
Tom 1-1
Me. 1.5-1.5 (HPB in round one)
I don't know what happened in anyone's third round game other than my own.
Any RD 3 updates yet?
Congratulations to Jacob Berger for winning the tournament.
I played decent chess this tournament. I always get that one game where I get in time trouble and blunder. This time it was my game against Hongkai Pan. The game started bad for me with me getting in a real bind with the black pieces. I played the opening horribly! However, I eventually opened the position and achieved some good play. However, I missed the best line in time trouble and lost.
