Hello!

For Challenge XIII, Goddesschess is offering prizes of $40 for every win and $20 for every draw by a female player in the Open Section. In addition, the top female finisher in both Open and Reserve sections will have their entry fee paid for Challenge XIV, if they register.

Steve Tennent wants to come to this tournament, however, he needs a ride from the Chicago area to and from the tournament. If you can assist Steve with a ride, please give him a call at 708-403-5153. Thanks.

Over the river and thru the wood,
To HCC XIII we go;
The car knows the way
To carry the set and board,
Thru the white and black squares, oh!
Over the river and thru the wood,
Oh, how the mate does sting!
It stings the king,
And bites the queen,
As over the board we go.

What is the proper setting for delay clocks for this tournament? I'd like to get my clock programmed in advance. Thanks!

The clock setting will be 60 minutes with a 5 second delay (do not subject any time).

Congratulations to the Southwest Chess Club for once again hosting this fine tournament! I was so happy to see an excellent turn-out, the second highest ever - even despite the crappy weather.

Challenge XIII saw three ladies win Goddesschess cash prizes in the Open for the wins they scored. In addition, the top female player in both the Open and Reserve Sections will have their entry fees paid for by Goddesschess should they choose to play in Challenge XIV.

We were very happy to see three female players in the Open. I believe this is the first time there were three women competing in the Open (please correct me if otherwise).

We would like to see even more female players compete in the Open Section in the future.

Also - just wondering - has there been any thought given to possibly qualifying the Challenge as a FIDE rated event? I am not familiar with all of the requirements, but I understand this would involve a minimum of five games, which could be spread over 2 days. This kind of event might attract a lot more players to come to Milwaukee. A lot more to work logistically and cost wise, but could be worth the gamble...

Congratulations to all the winners in Challenge XIII.

There were actually four women playing in the Open Section, and they all won some type of Goddesschess prize.

Congratulations to Awonder Liang for achieving Expert!! I believe he is the youngest ever to achieve this result!!

And, of course, congratulations to our four winners: Stamnov, Menon, Breider, and Raghavan.
