Allen, if you roll through us all at blitz this Thursday like normal you should go play in this event.
Can Allen beat Erik?
I wouldn't think it would be impossible although it may not be likely. But why not give it a shot? Sometimes the magic happens.
Gents, I would love to play in this event, but am distracted this Saturday by another kind of mate. As to whether I can beat Erik, perhaps, but that would be a rare achievement. Erik is a Very fine player. I remember the last time I played him in Blitz, after I made a move, he smiled quizzically, which I took as a sign that I had made a subtle blunder. Of course, I lost that one. Ah, but I'm on a new gradual upsurge in my chess, so stay tuned. -Allen
Stamnov plans to come, so Erik will have competition.
I would think that Stamnov would be eligible for the money, but not eligible for any title, since he is from Illinois. Can anyone enlighten us?
I would assume you are correct. Erik won the IL Blitz Championship last year but the title went to second place since they were from IL.
All trophies are from WI residents and former champions only.
What time is the blitz at? I work til noon Saturday, but I might come out to at least watch some blitz...

Well sweet, that might work!
About 40 people for both QUICK and BLITZ(mostly scholastic)
Nice tournament to play in. No pressure as far as ratings go, since it is an unrated event. Also a 1-day event, so there is no necessity for any type of overnight accommodations. Come on to Madison on Saturday and play chess all day.
So I do not need to be a United States Chess Federation member to play in this tournament - that is neat.
Indeed, some people have commitments for either morning or afternoon, so they can play in one of the events. We hope to see you there!
Had to work a bit late so couldn't make it out.
If anyone has results please post them!
