How will performance rating be calculated if someone goes 4-0?
We intend to use WinTD to calculate performance rating. We will look into your question. Thanks.
Wow, what a strong field. Thanks, Southwest Chess Club for running such a wonderful tournament!
Hi Everyone.
Good luck to you all on Saturday. I will be there with you in spirit, though not in person.
I wanted to let you know that the new prize this year is in honor of my dearly loved Don McLean, who passed away on October 12, 2012, the very day I was to play in a Hales Corners Challenge Tournament. He loved chess, as I do. He was a better player than I, although occasionally I could sneak through a draw and even, on one memorable flight to Las Vegas, a victory, LOL! I was not able to coax him to play in a HCCC, though. I think he would have enjoyed learning about an entirely new aspect of chess (other than our pure academic/observer approach).
It's been two years since he died. I like to think he would appreciate this special prize that Goddesschess has instituted in his honor. He would have been a player who might have pulled off a brilliant win or draw, and punched his performance rating up.
Good luck to all of you this Saturday, but especially my heart goes out to the chess femmes :)
Jan Newton/Goddesschess
To any chess player who is planning to pay on site, please try to arrive by 9:15 a.m., because we want to try to close registration by 9:30 and pair so we can start Round 1 on time. We will not pair anyone who has not paid, because in the past players have just not shown and this creates situations where players just sit for an hour with no game, and everybody wants to play chess. Thank you.
Fine turnout for HCC XX and very well directed as always. Congratulations to all the winners taking honors in a tough field. Palma non sine pulvere!
Thank you to the TD's, organizers, prize contributors, and members of the SWCC for a great tournament!
Nice event, thanks.
THANK YOU SW Chess Club for another super FUN Hales Corners Challenge!
A SPECIAL THANK YOU to JAN NEWTON for her great dedication and generosity via Goddess Chess!
Looking forward to the Spring Challenge!
